The Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP) is a Medicaid program providing skilled nursing and personal care services to medically fragile children under the age of 21 at no cost to families. These services are delivered safely in the child’s home and community. Eligibility is based on the child’s medical needs, and families with Medicaid can apply.
The Katie Beckett Waiver, also called the “Deeming Waiver,” provides Medicaid benefits to children under 18 regardless of parental income. Qualification is based solely on the institutional level of care the child requires. Children approved under the waiver gain access to all Medicaid services, including GAPP.

This program is not a waiver service, meaning your child can receive services immediately after GAPP service approval.

The evaluation process typically takes up to 30 days to complete, ensuring your child’s care plan is tailored to their medical needs.

Parents and guardians are actively involved in developing the child’s service plan, including setting care goals and participating in treatment planning.
If yes, your child may qualify for no-cost, in-home care services.
